Question:  How can I exclude generally an email account in Outlook® 2000 from the receipt of emails?

Answer:

Please deactivate 2 options
Option 1)
Tools -> Options
Tab "Mail-Services"

Deactivate the flag:
"E-Mail-Options" in the service "Internet-E-Mail".

Option 2)
Tools -> Options
Tab "Internet-Mail"

Deactivate the flag:
“ Local networkconnections all "xx" Minutes examine for new E-Mail”
